The summer is in full bloom here in Southern California. It is definitely hot hot, hot
in Hollywood so far this summer.
We have had some fabulous moments in July to share with everyone, including my
very special Artists for Peace and Justice Haiti issue sent out a couple of weeks ago.
Aside from Haiti, I was thrilled to attend ‘Jason Bourne’ world premiere on
July 18th, in Las Vegas and mingle with so many of the cast and crew, including
the talented and charming leading man, Matt Damon.
It was an extra special event as Matt had teamed up with Omaze, a platform that
offers people a once-in-a-lifetime experience by donating just $10, to benefit his
charity Water.org. The new ‘Jason Bourne’ movie is definitely fast paced and a
thrill ride, but the real action hero on a mission is the off screen Matt Damon who,
with his charity Water.org, has provided 4.3 million people access to safe water and
sanitation across 12 developing countries.
More recently I had the fun opportunity to get my ‘trekkie’ on and attend the world
premiere of ‘Star Trek Beyond’ at the San Diego Embarcadero Marina Park
Amphitheater, which kicked off the lively annual Comic Con. Although the night
was a huge celebration filled with red carpet photographers, Conan O’Brien quips
and an impressive fireworks display, it was the moment of silence called for by
JJ Abrams, for the late Anton Yelchin, that stole the evening. The young rising
actor, who plays Chekov in the new franchise died on June 19th in Los Angeles.
Special thank you to Universal Studios and Paramount Pictures for the invitations,
and to my ‘glam squad’ for always being ready, willing and able.
Next month I will be jetting off yet again for more moviemaking memories.
